How we got there
The Hindi DBpedia Chapter is being actively led and mentored by Dr. Sanju Tiwari through multiple editions of the Google Summer of Code (GSoC) projects in collaboration with the DBpedia community. The initiative focuses on building a structured multilingual knowledge graph from Hindi Wikipedia using Semantic Web, NLP, Knowledge Graphs, and LLM-based extraction techniques.
Dr. Sanju Tiwari also presented the paper titled “LLM-Assisted Multilingual Information Extraction for Knowledge Graph Population: The DBpedia Hindi Chapter” at the LLM-TEXT@KG Workshop during the 23rd ESWC 2026 Conference held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from May 10–14, 2026. The paper highlights the contributions and outcomes from both GSoC 2024 and GSoC 2025 initiatives under the Hindi DBpedia Chapter.
The project has successfully involved several GSoC contributors and mentors working on Hindi relational triple extraction, SPARQL endpoints, neural information extraction, Indic embeddings, and multilingual AI solutions. Recent contributors and collaborators include Aditya Venkatesh, Debarghya Datta, along with other mentors, who have contributed significantly toward extending Hindi knowledge graph infrastructure and extraction pipelines.
The Hindi DBpedia initiative aims to
- Build a large-scale Hindi knowledge graph from Hindi Wikipedia
- Develop Indic NLP and LLM-based relational extraction methods
- Support multilingual Semantic Web and Linked Open Data research
- Enable Hindi-focused AI, semantic search, and question answering systems
- Promote open-source collaboration for low-resource Indian languages
This initiative represents an important step toward strengthening linguistic diversity and making structured knowledge resources accessible for Hindi-speaking researchers, developers, students, and the broader AI community.
We warmly invite students, researchers, developers, and open-source contributors to join and contribute to the future of multilingual AI and Semantic Web technologies through Hindi DBpedia.
